Photo reference by David Muir taken while on our cruise to Alaska in the late Spring of 2009. We were facinated by the textures, shading, plastic, contours of the buildings and the reflections from the water.

Gerald Carpenter

Jerry Carpenter, born in Fairmont, West Virginia, educated at Berea College in Kentucky and Catholic University of America, moved from Washington, DC, to California in 2000. Working as an Information Technology professional is a stressful job; thus, in an effort to find peace I began painting watercolors under the tutelage of Ms. Bobbie Dixon as part of the Santa Clara Adult Education Program after moving to California. Since then, I have studied with other prominent artists. I began drawing and painting as a child, especially architecture. The medium of choice was Acrylics during his high school and college years. A developing career path caused him to long abandon the art. In recent years, the change to watercolor was a freeing...
